About
My new book, ‘This One is Special,’ will be published in February 2020 by O-Books. It’s based on 23 years of parenting my son – who has profound and multiple learning disabilities – and his able sister. They have been the biggest teachers in my life.
I became accredited as a healer, also known as an energy therapist, with The Healing Trust in 2003. Their training taught me how guided meditation could help a person relax at very deep levels, and create a space conducive to self-healing. Meditation has been a major part of my work ever since.
For ten years I was a special school governor, which gave me unique and often moving insights into the bewildering range of challenges that families with disabled children face.
With a degree in English Literature from the University of Cambridge, I believe in the power of stories: for insights, healing and happiness. Books I have previously written include ‘Coping When Your Child Has Special Needs’ (Sheldon Press). I’m a trustee on the Board of The Healing Trust and edit their magazine, Spiritus. And sometimes I write healing poetry, most recently for ‘The Poetic Bond’.

I look forward to reading more of your blog. I meditate a lot, too. Through illness, I’ve learned a lot already and continue to learn as much as I can. I also try to educate and inspire. Off to read some more of your posts. Have a great weekend.
Peace,
Tammy:)

Healing is a long road and takes commitment and strength to stand apart from the herd.. Sharing and healing others gives me faith that this is the true way of spirituality…Religion is a choice not a process…I feel most of us including myself had been or still are confused and thought they had to choose one over the other ‘Spirituality vs Religion’…how silly of a thought..Some day our planet will understand the unity principle. Love & Blessings to all!

Thank you for your response…very helpful to share a world with like minded individuals like you…

And you, Diane. I value your words, ‘commitment and strength’ because each time I write about personal experience, I do feel exposed – I can’t hide among the herd! But it’s worth it.

The truth is what heals and to be vulnerable in this way is the Spiritual way. My experiences came from the rooms of AA in which I was a nurse/counselor. This taught and demonstrated to me how to be honest and value each day. Addiction was their teacher, wholistic healing was mine, however, it does not matter what gets one on the path for in spirit all is the One. Suzanne, I love your share and others too, thanks.
